Crucible Properties

The impact of temperature applied to the quartz crucible is critical for optimum performance.

------

Coefficient of Expansion

Coefficient of expansion is defined as the increment of length in a unit of length for a rise in temperature of one degree. The coefficient of thermal expansion for quartz is dependent on the application temperature.

------

Thermal Diffusivity

Rate of heat diffusing through a unit area per unit time.

------

Heat Capacity

The heat capacity of a material is the amount of heat transferred to raise a unit mass of a material one-degree in temperature.

------

Thermal Conductivity

The thermal conductivity of quartz material varies with temperature, and mean thermal conductivity is defined by a constant factor K.

------

Viscosity

Viscosity is the measure of the resistance to flow of a material when exposed to a shear stress. Since the range in "flow-ability" is extremely wide, the viscosity scale is generally expressed logarithmically.
